It depends on the currency your family receives, and you choose that. A transfer they receive in córdobas has a $0 transfer fee. A transfer they receive in US dollars has a $3.00 transfer fee. Cash pickup is always paid in US dollars, so cash pickup is $3.00; a bank deposit can be either. A membership does not change the fee either way, and córdoba deposits are made to a Banco LAFISE account. You see the live rate and any fee before you confirm. Additional fees may apply if cash-pickup is selected, or the receiving country imposes additional taxes or fees.

Córdobas cost $0 to send and go to an account at Banco LAFISE, where the money is exchanged at the live USD-to-córdoba rate. US dollars cost $3.00 and can go to a bank deposit or to cash pickup at Banpro, with no exchange because the money stays in dollars. Yes. You send through MAJORITY, an authorized money transfer service, not a person-to-person payment to a stranger. Transfers are encrypted and handled by licensed partners, and you confirm the amount and the rate before the money is sent. Money transfer services are not FDIC insured.

No Social Security Number is required. You open your MAJORITY account with a passport or other approved government-issued ID and proof of US residence. Additional onboarding questions may apply for customers with no SSN.

It depends on the method. Cash pickup, the way most families in Nicaragua receive, is usually ready within a day, and about half of pickups are ready the same day. Bank deposits are faster and usually arrive within the hour. You see the delivery estimate for your chosen method before you confirm.

Two ways. Cash pickup at Banpro, which is the pickup network MAJORITY works with in Nicaragua. Or a bank deposit to their account at Banco LAFISE or Banpro. Córdoba deposits are made to a Banco LAFISE account; US dollar transfers can go to either bank or to cash pickup. Cash pickup and bank deposit are the two ways money arrives in Nicaragua today. Confirm your recipient’s pickup point or bank in the app before you send, because available options can change.

For cash pickup: their full name as it appears on their ID and their 8-digit Nicaraguan mobile number. For a bank deposit: their full name as it appears on their ID, their bank, and their account number, which is 9 digits at Banco LAFISE and 14 digits at Banpro. They collect cash with a valid government-issued photo ID, normally their cédula de identidad, and the pickup details you share with them.

An exchange rate applies only when your family receives córdobas. You get the live USD-to-córdoba rate shown in the app at the moment you send, and you see it before you confirm along with the exact amount in córdobas (NIO) your family receives. If your family receives US dollars instead, there is no exchange, and what you send in dollars is what they receive in dollars. Rates move during the day, so the number you see at confirmation is the one that applies. MAJORITY earns money on the foreign exchange rate on all transfers.

Your limit appears in the app before you send, and it depends on your account, how long you have been with MAJORITY, and the details you have verified. Transfer limits apply and vary per user.
