Yes. You send through MAJORITY, an authorized money transfer service, not a person-to-person payment to a stranger. Transfers are encrypted and handled by licensed partners, and you confirm the amount and the fee before the money is sent. Money transfer services are not FDIC insured.

No Social Security Number is required. You open your MAJORITY account with a passport or other approved government-issued ID and proof of US residence. On WhatsApp you upload no ID at all: you confirm a few personal details and we verify your identity as you send. Additional onboarding questions may apply for customers with no SSN.

It depends on the method. Bank deposits almost always arrive within 24 hours, and most the same day. Cash pickup takes longer and varies by pickup point. You see the delivery estimate for your chosen method before you confirm.

A bank deposit to their account at Banco Pichincha, Banco de Guayaquil, Banco del Pacífico, Banco del Austro, Banco Bolivariano, Banco Internacional, or Produbanco, at Mutualista Pichincha, or at cooperatives including Jardín Azuayo and Cooperativa JEP. Or cash pickup at a Banco de Guayaquil, Banco del Austro, or Cooperativa JEP branch. Bank deposit and cash pickup are the only two options in Ecuador today, and both pay out in US dollars. Confirm your recipient’s bank or pickup point in the app before you send, because available options can change.

For a bank deposit: their full name as it appears on their ID, their bank, their account number, and their 10-digit cédula. A passport number works in place of a cédula. For cash pickup: their full name as it appears on their ID and their phone number. They collect with a valid government-issued photo ID.

No. Ecuador’s official currency is the US dollar, so a transfer from the United States to Ecuador is dollars to dollars. There is no conversion, no exchange rate, and no rate margin. Send $200 and your family receives $200. The $3.00 fee is added to the amount you send rather than taken out of it, and you see the total before you confirm.
