When you check your transactions, some appear with a code instead of the name you expected. This is not necessarily an error or an unknown charge; it is the way the payment network identifies the operation.
What is WUVISAAFT? WUVISAAFT identifies a transaction made with a Visa card through Western Union. If you moved money using your card, it is normal for it to appear like this in your transaction history.
Why doesn't the name match the merchant?
The title you see is the name under which the merchant or payment processor is registered with the payment network. It may not match the commercial name you know. For example, a store may appear under the name of its parent company, or a service may appear under the name of the platform that processes its payments.
Why does it appear as pending?
Many transactions first go through a pre-authorization. The merchant reserves the amount while confirming the operation, but the money has not necessarily left your account yet.
The hold can last:
Hotels and car rentals: up to 31 days
All other merchants: between 1 and 9 days.
If the merchant does not complete the charge within that period, the hold is automatically released and the money becomes available again.
What happens if the transaction appears as declined?
Sometimes the merchant rejects the operation during its own security validations. It may check the card number, expiration date, security code, and billing address. If any of these details do not match, the operation may be canceled and the pre-authorization reversed.
For WUVISAAFT transactions, this return can take up to 9 calendar days to be reflected in your available balance.
Important: the return may not appear as a new transaction
When a pre-authorization is released, it is not a refund: it is a hold that is canceled. Therefore, you might not see a new transaction in your list. What updates automatically is your available balance.
If you are waiting for money to be returned from an incomplete operation, you can check your available balance instead of looking for a new transaction in the list.
